Dr. Chris Brown was stunned when he noticed a strange detail in the sea while walking on New Year's Day.
The 45-year-old TV presenter was taking a twilight walk while holidaying on the New South Wales north coast when he spotted a strange blue light in the water.
Chris shared a picture of his discovery on Instagram and explained that the “scary” but beautiful moment was a completely natural occurrence.
Chris said that the blue light in the ocean is actually bioluminescence produced by algae in the water.
“So this was kind of a New Year’s surprise,” he wrote in his post.

“The spooky blue light emanating from the sea is bioluminescence.” A bright light produced by a tiny algae in the water.
“But bioluminescence with the full moon rising in the background somehow beats New Year’s Eve fireworks.”
In his post, he shared two photos of the “ocean light.”
In one image, the sun could be seen setting behind a headland in the background, while a blue “haze” could be seen in the surf.

A second image, taken from a different angle, showed the “blue light” of a beach head.
The post comes after it was announced that Chris will be replacing long-time host Daryl Somers as co-host of Dancing with the Stars for the 2024 season alongside Sonia Kruger.
Last year he made headlines when he walked away from Ten's I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here to join Seven in the top-rated dance competition.
