Continuing the recent trend of performers being attacked by thrown objects on stage, Drake is the latest victim.

The Canadian singer-rapper was struck in the left wrist while performing the song “So Anxious” in Chicago on Wednesday night. Drake checked the phone on the floor but gave no indication that he was hurt or particularly upset and continued with the show which was part of his It’s All a Blur tour.

He became the latest victim of a disturbing trend of fans throwing objects on stage for a clickable video moment. Artists like Bebe Rexha, Pink, Kid Cudi, Steve Lacy Kelsea Ballerini and Ava Max have all been victims. And singer Adele recently warned from the stage that she would defend herself against anyone who throws anything at her.

Rexha sustained the most serious injury: a discarded phone hit her near her eye, causing her to collapse on stage. A 27-year-old man was arrested.

Ballerini interrupted her Idaho show to address her audience after an object was thrown.

“Can we just talk about what happened?” she asked. “My only concern is to ensure everyone’s safety. If you ever feel unsafe, please tell someone close to you. If someone is pushing too much or you just have a gut feeling, just always report it. … don’t throw things, you know?”

Adele had the strongest reaction. This week she told her audience: “Have you noticed how people are forgetting about show etiquette at the moment? People just throwing shit on stage, have you seen them? I f- dare. Dare throw anything at me and I will kill you.”
