The incident happened while the “God’s Plan” rapper was performing at the United Center in Chicago on Wednesday on the opening night of his “It’s All a Blur” tour with 21 Savage.
Footage captured by a TikTok user shows the Canadian rapper singing Ginuwine’s “So Anxious” as the phone touches his arm. The 36-year-old singer watched the phone fall to the ground and then continued singing the 1999 song.
He is one of many artists who have been the target of an object during a concert in recent weeks.
Bebe Rexha had to end her show early and go to hospital for stitches after she was hit in the face by a phone while a spectator threw her late mother’s ashes on stage during Pink’s concert at BST Hyde Park in London.
These events prompted Adele to say that the public “should stop throwing objects at artists” during her visit to Las Vegas at Caesars Palace last weekend.
