EXCLUSIVE: DreamWorks Animation is making cuts, cutting four percent of its staff. We assume that the cuts are due to the company’s economic downturn, rising production costs and the strikes.

“DreamWorks Animation has reduced its workforce by approximately 70 positions,” a DWA spokesperson told Deadline in a statement. “Roles across all corporate functions, feature film, television and technology departments were affected as part of an overall cost reduction.”

The hope is that the studio can turn things around with the release of the third part of the Trolls film series. Trolls Band Together is set to be released on November 17th, with *Nsync reuniting after 22 years to sing a song for the film’s soundtrack. The animated film’s voice actors include Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, Camila Cabello, Eric André, Kid Cudi, Troye Sivan, Daveed Diggs, Amy Schumer, RuPaul, Kenan Thompson and more.

Earlier this year, DreamWorks Animation and Netflix partnered on Orion and The Dark, an animated film from Charlie Kaufman. The feature is scheduled to appear on the streamer in 2024. The director is Sean Charmatz and the producer is Peter McCown. Executive producers are Walt Dohrn and Bonnie Arnold. The voice actors include Jacob Tremblay as Orion and Paul Walter Hauser as Dark.
