A driver was arrested after his vehicle crashed into the gate surrounding the White House.
The arrest was confirmed Monday evening by Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service.
He said the accident occurred on the east side of the White House complex, at Pennsylvania Avenue and 15th Street.
“Shortly before 6 p.m., a vehicle collided with an exterior gate of the White House complex,” he wrote on X.
“The driver was taken into custody and we are investigating the cause and nature of the collision.”
“Expect traffic impacts at 15th Street and Pennsylvania Ave and adjacent intersections.”
