On Wednesday morning, Mr Mrais said the following during part of his morning show on the subject of trams and the environment:

“Did someone, at night [peut] See if there’s a crayon lying around the mayor’s office? It’s a verification. I am sure that is not the case. I just want peace of mind. There’s big stuff there,” he said.

The host also called the mayor a “guru” and “Raël Marchand” who is “not connected to the earth” and lives “in his utopia”.

“Where is the limit?”

In an interview with Le Journal, Mr Marchand reacted fiercely by saying he was “extremely offended” at having been linked to drugs.

“How does CHOI FM tolerate this situation? How does CHOI FM tolerate that its moderator talks nonsense and tells untruths? That’s called lying and giving false information. where is the limit Where will CHOI FM set the limit? Where does the misinformation stop?” the mayor dropped, his face closed.

He confirms that Dominic Mrais “has a political agenda related to the tram” and that the host is “trying to discredit the carrier”. [du mégaprojet]“Bruno Marchand did not rule out a lawsuit in court.

Mr. Marchand also wondered, “Why is CHOI FM trying so quickly to find out who is behind this?” [le site] “Let’s break out the junk radios” but unable to clean up his own ranks? Unable to take responsibility and say that there is nothing to say. We cannot tell untruths and spend our time apologizing for saying a lot of nonsense.”

Last September, the same host, Dominic Mavais, was forced to apologize to Quebec’s mayor after he posted a dubious link between the priest who attacked him in his childhood and Mr Marchand on his Facebook page.

“An interpretation” of the mayor, according to the radio

Late Wednesday afternoon, Philippe Lefebvre, vice president of RNC Media and general manager of CHOI 98.1 Radio X, categorically denied that his host had made any connection between Mayor Marchand and drugs.

“There is an interpretation on the part of the mayor that is not intended at all when we listen to the excerpt. It’s an expression on the same level as saying someone is a good smoker. That doesn’t mean we’re saying the person is using drugs,” he said.

According to him, “It’s a way of qualifying remarks that may be more like ‘flyés’. If you listen to the completeness and the tone, objectively and honestly, you understand. The mayor himself understands the nature of the matter very well. Dominic never says the mayor does drugs.
