Drunk driving: six arrests at Thetford Mines

Six people were arrested at Thetford mines last weekend for driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Among them, two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

Patrol officers intercepted a vehicle on Notre-Dame Street West on Friday night. They found that the 31-year-old driver was intoxicated.

The second arrest came after an interception at the corner of St-Alphonse Nord and Simoneau streets. An 18-year-old Victoriaville zero-tolerance driver failed her breathalyzer test because her blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

The third arrest was made while a vehicle was stuck in the snow. Locally, an 18-year-old from Thetford was affected by alcohol when subjected to zero tolerance. The young man failed the breathalyzer test with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

A 19-year-old young man was arrested for tending and controlling a road vehicle while his abilities were impaired by alcohol. The latter provided a result almost three times the legal limit.

Finally, a 60-year-old driver was also arrested for obstructing driving. She had to submit to tests by a drug recognition evaluation officer.

A 60-year-old man from Thetford suffered the same fate after being arrested for drunk driving.
