Drunk passenger hits pilot on plane, causing riot on board flight to Greece

A passenger was arrested by Greek police after attacking the plane’s pilot after landing. The fight broke out shortly after the Wizz Air plane landed in Crete from London, reports the British tabloid The Sun.

Witnesses on board said the offending passenger was with a friend and spent the flight smoking ecigarettes. The couple showed signs of intoxication, intimidating the other travelers and engaging in provocation until they managed to get a brawl on board.

Amid the commotion, the pilot exited the cockpit to calm the angry passenger. It was no use, however, and he eventually became a victim of the troublemaker too, receiving beatings while the other passengers screamed in terror.

Images shared on social media, like the one above (waiting for loading) show the fight unfolding in the aisle of the plane until police arrive. When officers intervened, the man was pulled from the plane.

A Wizz Air spokesman confirmed the situation without elaborating: “On Wizz Air flight W95741 from Gatwick to Chania, a passenger became unruly. The cabin crew handled the situation as learned and reported the incident to the relevant authorities, who arrested the passenger upon arrival.”

“Wizz Air sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience, but the safety of passengers and crew is the airline’s top priority,” the company said, referring to the fact that the return flight had to be canceled, that the crew was taken to the police station, to give testimony.
