Brazil advocates phasing out fossil fuels
The President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, has called for:Confront the debate about the slowness of decarbonization“In this sense, he has called for a transformation of the economy to leave fossil fuels behind.”We have to do it quickly but fairly. “I cannot imagine fighting climate change without fighting inequality,” he added. In this sense, Lula reiterates that Brazil is ready to “lead by example” and has already implemented measures such as: strengthen its emissions reduction roadmapreduce deforestation in the Amazon (to achieve zero rate by 2030) and formulate an ambitious ecological transformation plan to “promote green industrialization, low-carbon agriculture and bioeconomy.”
