Over £280,000 has been raised for the Deliveroo hero who stopped the knife attack on children in Dublin

Caio Benicio, 43, was hailed as a hero for stopping an attack on three children in Dublin after jumping from his bike and hitting the attacker on the head with his helmet.

The father-of-two told the Chron that he “acted on instinct” after driving past Parnell Square and seeing what he thought was a “normal fight.”

Mr. Benicio said the man fell to the ground and others came to hold him there.

The hero rider, who moved to Ireland from Rio de Janeiro a year ago, said: “I didn’t have time to be scared. I have two children myself and I didn’t have time to be afraid, I just played.”

Organizer Paul Darcy set up the GoFundMe page saying: “The man is a hero and the least we can do is donate a pint to him. That’s why I’m asking you to donate the price of a pint of Guinness in your local so that he knows that the people of Dublin appreciate him.”
