Duck dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson’s biopic The Blind will be released in September 2023

Distribution plans are “finalizing” for The Blind, a 1960s biopic about controversial Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson, due for a September 22, 2023 US release.

“There’s a large, underserved audience that cares deeply about the Robertsons,” Phil’s nephew/producer Zach Dasher told Deadline on Wednesday.

“This film traces the origins of this beloved family with an authenticity that will surprise and inspire millions of fans.”

On June 6th, director Andrew Hyatt (All These Small Things and Paul, Apostle Of Christ) announced that production on The Blind, set in 1960s Louisiana, was complete.

Aron von Andrian from House of the Dragon plays the adult version of Phil Robertson, who “struggles with the shame of his past as a husband and father grapples with his own alcoholism and complicated family dynamics.”

The Haunting of Bly Manor alum Amelia Eve called the story “beautiful” after wrapping up her role as the adult version of Phil’s wife, Marsha, aka “Miss Kay” Carroway on May 19.

After turning down a Washington Redskins recruit to hunt, Phil earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and worked as a school teacher while pursuing his master’s degree in education in night classes.

Robertson — who also worked as a commercial fisherman and bar owner — became a born-again Christian after struggling with alcoholism and other personal issues that led to a brief marital separation.

“It was important to us that the film was real. Phil’s transformation proves that anyone can change and that there is always hope,” noted Phil’s son/producer Willie.
