The President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, has failed in his attempt to form a common Valencian front. His alliance with Vox and their attacks, particularly on the Socialists, have undermined the initiative of the PP leader, who always boasts of his ability to dialogue and reach agreements. Compromises, he didn’t even make the appointment yet.
Last week, Carlos Mazón called on the opposition parties PSPV and Compromís for a round of contacts to advance their legislative agenda and fundamentally form a common front before the Spanish government. In the midst of a monographic debate against the amnesty, the PP leader, as he said, made a proposal to reach agreements on fundamental issues on the Valencian agenda, such as financing, infrastructure such as the port of Valencia, Valencian civil law or water. The leader of the Valencian Socialists, Ximo Puig, called on the head of the Consell to condemn the siege to which the Socialist headquarters is subjected, because “if you want to talk about pacts, we will always be ready, but the first is that of “democratic respect,” he said. Mazón responded by assuring that he had already done it, but the formula was not enough for the Socialists, who reported to the prosecutor a PP video in which he indicated with names, surnames and photos of the Valencian deputies present at Pedro’s inauguration voted yes. Sanchez.
Nevertheless, the spokesperson of the PSPV in Les Corts, Rebeca Torró, attended the meeting with the President of the Generalitat, from whom she demanded to “stop the normalization and reporting of the extreme right by Vox”, pointing out that the Socialists They are not prepared to reach an agreement as long as the PP is “hostage” to its government partner. “Our red line is the extreme right (…) He has to decide what he will vote for,” indicated Torró.
“The far right treats us as a non-legitimate party and the PP gives them cover and that doesn’t help us sit down and discuss other issues. We will continue to work for the Valencian agenda, but our red line is the extreme right and its lack of respect,” Torró added. “We are light years away,” he concluded.
For his part, the Ombudsman for Compromises in Les Corts, Joan Baldoví, has justified his refusal to participate in the contact round by saying that “the Valencian government itself does not represent a common position on the Valencian agenda”, since, in his opinion, PP and Vox On issues like that They have different opinions about canceling regional debts. “It wasn’t a meeting with the ‘President’, it was a meeting with the People’s Party,” he explained.
Carlos Mazón found support at Vox. The spokeswoman for Les Corts, Ana Vega, has promised to study the proposed agreements in detail and to work on them by the Consell and the Valencian Parliament. Commenting on the criticism of the PSPV, he explained that he did not want to agree to anything with someone who was “carrying out a coup against the institutions,” and referred to the amnesty and investiture pacts.
