‘Valuable’

7:00 p.m., Sundance

Precious by Lee Daniels

USA, 2009 (110 minutes). Director: Lee Daniels. Cast: Gabourey Sidibe, Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey.

Lee Daniels’ second film announces its angry intentions in the first frames. Precious is the horrific story of a protagonist reeling from a miserable existence: an obese, uneducated teenager abused by her mother and struggling to escape marginalization. Although the script is a bit moody at times, Daniels brings commendable visual power to the story, filling every frame with emotion, delivered to a stunning group of actresses.

The poet Luis Alberto de Cuenca, in the “General Plan”

9:30 p.m., La 2

Luis Alberto from Cuenca

The poet, philologist, essayist, translator and music lyricist Luis Alberto de Cuenca is this week’s guest in the Generalplan room, directed and moderated by Jenaro Castro. De Cuenca, winner of the National Prize for Poetry and Translation, member of the Royal Academy of History and was Director of the National Library and Secretary of State for Culture, will of course talk about his poetic work, but he will also deal with areas such as cinema, music and Social News.

“The Lucky Star”

22.05, The 2nd

The Good Star, by Ricardo Franco

Spain, 1997 (98 minutes). Director: Ricardo Franco. Artists: Antonio Resines, Jordi Mollà, Maribel Verdú.

The great Ricardo Franco reached one of the highlights of Spanish cinema of the 1990s with “The Good Star”. A work that examines with surprising sensitivity the relationship that develops between three broken, mutilated protagonists, three beings who seek protection in a relationship that is as emotional as it is destructive. Thanks to the director’s expertise, the characters who live in “The Good Star” become commonplace and recognizable. It is Franco’s subtle and moving production, supported by the immense work of the trio of protagonists, that gives shine to an exemplary work of national cinema. Ricardo Franco only managed to make one more film, Black Tears, before dying in 1998 at the age of 48.

More blind auditions on “The Voice”

The Voice, broadcast on Antena 3Roberto Sastre

The voice section continues its “blind auditions”. The leaders of the four teams, Luis Fonsi, Malú, Pablo López and Antonio Orozco, will listen to different artists to form their groups. To get the votes they want, they even compete with each other, because once they press the red button to convince a participant to become part of their team, they can be blocked by another of their colleagues so that they do not agree.
