This would be a significant increase compared to the launch of the first film in the saga, which had amassed 41 million in North American cinemas when it opened in October 2021. However, it should be noted that this publication took place in a pandemic context.

Despite health restrictions, the first part of “Dune” ultimately grossed more than $402 million at the global box office.

According to an article published Thursday on the trade site Deadline Hollywood, advance ticket sales for the “Dune” sequel, which began on January 26, are going well. To the point that the most optimistic experts do not rule out that the new film based on Frank Herbert's novel will gross up to $ 80 million in the first three days of cinemas in the USA and Canada.

While we wait for the film to hit theaters, the promotional campaign for Dune: Part II is in full swing. Denis Villeneuve and his cast walked the red carpet in Mexico City earlier this week for a preview of the feature film. They will travel to Paris and London next week.

A 2e Movie better than the first?

Last December, during a press conference for the release of Dune: Part II in South Korea, Denis Villeneuve suggested that the second part of the saga was a “much better film” than the first chapter.

“There is something more alive [dans le deuxième film]», emphasized the director of Quebec.

“I achieved an intensity and a quality of emotion that I hadn't achieved with the first film. I'm not saying the film is perfect, but I'm happier with the second part than the first part. I can’t wait to share it with fans and moviegoers.”

Dune: Part Two will storm theaters across the province on March 1st.
