CNN –
Hollywood star Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson brought University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders to the verge of tears Saturday when he surprised him on the set of ESPN’s “GameDay” at the college.
“Coach Prime is changing the face of college football and he’s doing it his way, but he’s also doing it in a way that’s going to galvanize not just a city in Boulder, Colorado, but an entire country,” The Rock said.
“You’re going to make me cry, man,” Sanders replied, before joking, “All you recruits, did you hear what he said?”
Previously, it was Sanders who praised the rock and got down on one knee to welcome the actor to the ESPN show.
The Colorado Buffaloes narrowly avoided an upset against the Colorado State Rams, picking up a 43-35 win in overtime and extending their winning streak to 3-0 this season.
Sanders’ son Shedeur managed a game-winning 98-yard scoring drive from quarterback in the final two minutes of regulation before throwing two touchdowns in overtime to secure the win.

Colorado Buffaloes tight end Michael Harrison celebrates with fans on the field after winning the Rocky Mountain Showdown against the Colorado State Rams.
“We played like garbage in the first half, but in the second half we tried to get it right on offense and also pick up some slacks on defense,” Sanders said afterward, according to the University of Colorado website.
“We did some things that showed we were resilient. We showed that we would fight, we showed that there is no surrender or giving up in us.”
However, Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter was hospitalized after a late hit in the first quarter of the game, the school said, and he will be “out for a couple of weeks,” Sanders said afterward.
The Rock wasn’t the only familiar face in town in college football, as Lil Wayne entertained the crowd and led the Buffaloes onto the field.
“You’re telling me Lil Wayne is at a college game and performs before the game,” Sanders said on “GameDay.” “This is amazing, this is what college is supposed to be… all the kids are having a great time… I love it 100%. “I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying life and coaching my sons in a beautiful city. The weather is perfect. I have no reason to be angry.”
