The first chapter of Terra e Paixão begins with Aline (Barbara Reis) having to flee her land immediately with her son in her arms after her husband Samuel (Ítalo Martins) senses an impending invasion of the property. In the midst of the grandiose plantations of Mato Grosso do Sul, she runs with little João (Matheus Assis) in her arms and gets help from Caio (Cauã Reymond), of all people, the son of the man who ordered the attack, the powerful farmer Antônio La Selva (Tony Ramos). Cândida (Susana Vieira), the owner of the bar in town and a friend of Caio’s, is the one who protects Aline and João and puts her own life on the line trying to outwit the henchmen who are looking for them after Samuel is murdered. With humor, Cândida cleanses the skin of her protégés and adds amusing moments to the sequence of suspense.
