Early International Box Office Estimates: Ranbir Kapoor starrer targets $10.5 MILLION weekend – timesofindia.com

Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited film Animal, which is two days away from release, is a spectacular showcase of his box office prowess and has already raked in a lot of money. The film, which hits theaters on Friday, is set to break records and also become Ranbir’s most successful film to date.
The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is slated for a worldwide release on December 1, gearing up for an explosive debut fueled by a surge in pre-sales in both India and overseas markets. Reports on Boxofficeworldwide suggest that the film is expected to do well with a staggering $4.5 million on its opening day.

With an impressive start, the film is poised for a whopping weekend gross of $10.5 million, marking a triumphant entry into the global market.

If the film manages to cross the 10 million mark, it will enter the list of highest-grossing films at the global box office. Currently, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is at the top with a collection of $21.54 million. Pathaan is in second place with earnings of $16.59 million. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s Padmaavat comes third with a collection of $10.59 million and finally Dhoom 3 which collected $10.32 million.

The North American market is proving to be a stronghold, contributing nearly half a million dollars to the weekend box office, including $300,000 from Thursday previews alone.
In India, “Animal” aims to break pre-sales records and surpass the high bar set by “Tiger 3”. According to reports, the film, which received an ‘A’ certificate, sold a whopping 1.75 lakh tickets in nationwide chains ahead of its release. With two days left, the final advance booking total is expected to go up to over ₹ 4.75 lakh.
Apart from being rated for adults, the film is also said to be one of the longest from RK stars with a running time of 3 hours and 21 minutes.

According to reports, pre-sales for the film began last week and only picked up with the release of the explosive trailer.
The film has grossed over $600,000 on its first day, surpassing other films like Tiger 3 and Brahmastra. Interestingly, at this rate, Animal may just be on a path that closely parallels the success of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
