EastEnders fans are convinced Lola’s mum Emma is hiding some dark secrets after her odd behavior sparked even MORE theories

EastEnders fans have been convinced Lola’s mum Emma is hiding some dark secrets after her odd behavior in Monday’s episode sparked even more theories.

In the latest installment, Emma (Patsy Palmer) was dying to spend time with Lola – who was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor last year – for Mother’s Day.

As they spent time together, the conversation turned to Emma’s own mother — and it quickly became apparent she was hiding something.

Emma told Lola her “glamorous” mum had died in a care home during lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.

Later in the episode, Lola and her young daughter, Lexi, were trying to find out more about their deceased relative, and when they asked Emma about it, she seemed panicked.

Pressing the subject, Emma changed the subject and fled the house – saying she had to check on an elderly neighbor.

After her sudden departure, it was clear that Lola and her partner Jay Brown didn’t believe her and that something was amiss.

Viewers weren’t convinced either, and took to social media to vent their theories that she lied about her mother.

On Twitter, viewers surmised that maybe she wasn’t even Lola’s mother, or even could have killed her own mother.

A viewer said: “Emma doesn’t want to talk about her mum when Lexi mentions it. Yes, she is definitely lying. I wonder if she killed her mother?

Another tweeted: “I feel like her mother didn’t die! I don’t trust Emma at all!’

A third fan added, “I think Emma might tell Piglet about her ‘mother’,” while a fourth tweeted, “She’s not Lola’s mother, is she?”

Meanwhile, a fifth viewer said: “Did your mum die during lockdown? I thought she said her parents were both dead? Did I mishear?’

It comes after Jay was accused of cheating on his wife after Emma spotted him during an innocent conversation with another woman one night.

While Jay insisted he would never cheat on Lola, his angry wife decided to undergo her next hospital appointment without him, but after being spooked by her prognosis, she turned to him again for help.

Speaking about the episodes, actor Jamie admitted that Jay has become increasingly like Lola over the past few weeks as her health continues to deteriorate.

He said: “He’s really worried and really concerned. He’s very protective of Lola because he’s seeing how her symptoms are developing, so that makes him really, really concerned.”

When he and Emma clash, she accuses him of being overprotective of Lola, and Jamie admits he agrees.

He added, “I would, but obviously there’s that element of ‘well I’m here every day’, ‘I’ve been here all this time and you haven’t,’ so while Jay gets Emma’s point, she doesn’t know her lineup and she doesn’t know how they did it.

“Emma has arrived and has opinions on the situation but she doesn’t really know what’s really going on.

“That frustrates Jay a lot. He can also see that she is not who she says she is, he can sense some cracks, and he can sense that something is wrong with her. He’s not entirely convinced by the whole “I’m really sorry” act.
