‘One of my favorite doof-doofs in ages’: EastEnders fans are ecstatic as Linda’s mum Elaine celebrates her ‘iconic’ return to Albert Square
EastEnders fans were delighted on Wednesday when Linda Carter’s mother Elaine Peacock returned to Albert Square.
The long-awaited return came right at the end of the episode and ended on a cliffhanger.
Elaine strutted into the Queen Vic to the surprise of Linda, who was in the middle of a fight with Sharon Watts.
Elaine explained, “Well, I hope the champagne is on hold.”
A shocked Linda exclaimed: “Mom? What are you doing here?’

Elaine smugly replied, “Well, I thought it was about time the Vic met its new queen.”
Viewers at home were just shocked but couldn’t wait to see where the story would go next.

Harriet Thorpe has taken on the role of Elaine, having previously been played by Maria Friedman.

She will return to the pitch to support her daughter after her husband Mick tragically drowned on Christmas Day.
Linda has been trying to rebuild her life at the Queen Vic after Mick’s new wife Janine was thrown behind bars following Mick’s alleged death.
Bosses recently announced that the role of Elaine has been recast, with Calendar Girls and The Brittas Empire star Harriet taking on the role.
Elaine is described by boss Chris Clenshaw as “a powerful landlady who knows exactly how to have fun”.
