EastEnders fans were stunned when two iconic characters disappeared from the soap following THIS shocking murder episode on Christmas Day

EastEnders fans were left confused after realizing two iconic characters were missing from the final episodes following the explosive Christmas special.

The BBC soap made history with an episode back in February when it announced a murder in a flash-forward but kept the identity of the body and killer secret.

After ten exciting months of speculation, viewers finally found out which character was murdered in the episode.

Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) was killed after being stabbed and Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) was attacked on Monday as The Six's storyline reached its climax.

Six of Walford's matriarchs; Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Suki Kaur Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) have been involved in a series of events, which led to Keanu's death.

The six women have all suffered injustice at the hands of men in their lives, leaving EastEnders fans guessing throughout the year as to who the victim and the murderer were.

In addition to Keanu and Nish, several men were teased as potential victims before Christmas, including Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Tom “Rocky” Cotton (Brian Conley) and Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo). and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).

But after the shocking special broadcast, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Phil and Jack had seemingly disappeared.

Several took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to question the characters' absence, especially given that they had been teased as potential victims.

One person tweeted: “Things I've noticed: Jack and Phil have completely disappeared since Christmas.”

A second echoed: “I don't understand why Jack and Phil were in the promotional images leading up to the Christmas episode? They weren't even close to it!'

Another wrote: “Phil and Jack haven't been seen in the aftermath either,” while someone else added: “I don't think Walford police have heard of CCTV and where is Dean Phil Jack.”

A fifth fan even suggested the pair could also be killed, quipping: “Who's next?” Jack in the kitchen with the lead pipe or Phil with the rope in the garage???'

The festive episode came to an explosive conclusion on Monday when Denise was seen hitting Nish over the head with a bottle as she tried to protect his wife Suki from his abuse.

Although Nish initially appeared to be dead, not everything was as it seemed, but shortly afterwards Keanu stormed into the Queen Victoria Pub and saw Nish's body.

He got into an argument with Sharon after their wedding was called off when it was revealed he had kidnapped their son Albie.

When Sharon told Keanu she would send him to prison for attempting to kidnap Albie if he didn't keep quiet about Nish's alleged death, the groom lunged at her to strangle her.

In a completely unexpected twist, Linda then grabbed a knife and stabbed Keanu in the back to save Sharon's life.

Suki performed CPR on Nish and managed to get him breathing again, before running to tell the others he was alive and finding Keanu dead on the floor.

The six Walford women joined forces to wrap Keanu's body in a tarpaulin and heavy tape before dragging him away to bury him under the floorboards of the burnt-out cafe.

They also made up a story about Keanu holding them at knifepoint in the Queen Vic and accused him of hitting Nish on the head.
