EastEnders welcomes two star actors to the screen as Colin Salmon's parents

EastEnders has cast two big new actor names in a storyline set to hit cinemas in 2024.

Having recently cast acting giant and Resident Evil star Colin Salmon as the Queen Vic's new landlord, the show has made room for a few more legends.

In 2024, George Knight (Colin Salmon) will be reunited with his adoptive parents, played by actresses Elizabeth Counsell (Gloria) and Christopher Fairbank (Eddie).

The pair both have decades of experience in the vault, with Christopher and Elizabeth landing their debut roles in 1978 and 1962, respectively.

Christopher, 70, has had a star-studded career, appearing in blockbusters such as The Little Mermaid and Guardians Of The Galaxy.

The veteran actor has also appeared in several TV shows including Vera, Wolf Hall, Doctor Who, Sherwood and Outlander. However, he is best known for his role as Albert in the comedy series Goodbye, Pet.

He has also tried his hand at voice acting and has used his vocal cords for a variety of video games, including Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Age of Conan and Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters.

Elizabeth, who will play Colin's adoptive mother, also has a distinguished career in her own right.

The 81-year-old star made a name for herself when she appeared as Veronica in the BBC sitcom Brush Strokes.

The actress doesn't have to slow down yet either, having recently appeared in Call The Midwife, The Outlaws and Unforgotten, as well as the films Forever Young (2023) and The Invitation.

Although the two have a lot of impressive achievements to their name, the acting titans are excited to take the stage as Gloria and Eddie Knight.

Elizabeth told Metro: “I can honestly say it's been an absolute joy. “The cast and all the team behind the scenes at EastEnders are brilliant and gave us such a warm welcome.

“Colin and I have actually worked together before, and who would have thought that almost thirty years later I would be playing his mother!”

George's parents are not as innocent as they may seem, bringing with them a whole host of agendas and secrets from their son's past (pictured: Colin Salmon as George Knight).

Christopher added how excited he was to be part of the EastEnders cast.

He said: “Everyone was so welcoming and it was fantastic to meet and work with the brilliant actors involved in the show.”

Elizabeth and Christopher have already started filming Gloria and Eddie, who will enter the square in hopes of reconnecting with George.

But the parents are not as innocent as they seem, which hints at the secrets hidden in George's past.

EastEnders bosses recently confirmed the seven potential victims of the highly anticipated murder in the Christmas episode – with just a few weeks to go.

The first tease of the crime thriller was revealed back in February, but the identities of both the body and the victim have yet to be revealed.

The shocking scenes featured Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) standing over a mysterious body.

They all have connections to the women in the scene for many reasons – which gives the crime thriller even more excitement.
