This Wednesday (10) the platform released all the episodes echothe latest original series to follow Maya Lopez (lived from Alaqua Cox) on a personal journey after its launch at the Gavião Arqueiro 2021.

The series won on Rotten Tomatoes 67% critical approval (at the time of publication). On the other hand, public reception is somewhat better, with 77% audience approval.

Eco debuts with just over 60% approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

The reviews published so far praise the performance of Alaqua Cox and the action, but they criticize the rhythm and the more “independent” plot of the rest of the MCU.

Check out some excerpts from the reviews below:

“'Eco' is the antidote to Marvel's malaise. The series takes the franchise into a new future by bringing back a brutal and violent era of television that makes “Eco” feel like it’s straight out of the early 2000s.”

Dais Johnston for inverse

“A fifthrate boredom that further ruins the once strong Marvel brand.”

Nick Schager for The Daily Beast

“Alaqua Cox is a triumph in 'Eco,' a series that has struggled in the editing department but is still able to deliver a fierce, culturally significant story that puts Maya López on the map and ushers us into a new era of Introduces storytelling. MCU for television.”

Josh Wilding for the comic film, 3.5/5

“The good news is: After watching the first three episodes, which were made available to critics ahead of the series' premiere on January 10, 'Eco' stands out in many ways from the rest of the Marvel Studios series on Disney+ .”

Ethan Anderson for slash film, 7.5/10

“'Eco' is definitely a series about how the legacy of violence corrodes the soul but never knows how to heal or enrich [o debate]. Instead, it contents itself with delivering a bloodthirsty blow to the head.”

Rodrigo Perez for the playlist, D+

“While there are some concerns about what a more violent Marvel story might look like following Daredevil's brief cameo in 'SheHulk: Defending Heroes,' 'Echo' seems to be a solid sign that the studio knows exactly what it is.” it does.”

Charles Pulliam Moore to The Verge

“The series belongs to Maya López and Alaqua Cox and they are both newfound superstars. It’s a Marvel series disguised as a TV drama with just enough action to remind you that it’s part of the superhero genre.”

Adam Barnhardt for the comic book, 4.5/5

“When Eco is built around small, more natural details that are free from the constraints and idiosyncrasies of the MCU, that's where it comes into play. Considering that the rest of the series feels like baggage, what this series does makes it even more promising.”

Chase Hutchinson for colliders, 8/10

In five episodes, the series follows the story of Maya Lopez and his unstable relationship with King of crime. The plot is selfcontained and opens the Marvel Spotlight label with productions that are a little more “independent” from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
