Economy: Lower fuel prices currently no tank tourism

Prices at petrol stations have fallen again to around €1.80 per liter on average across Austria. According to the ÖAMTC, on Tuesday, diesel cost an average of 1,814 euros/liter, Super 1,799 euros. It was the fourth consecutive Tuesday that gasoline prices fell. for comparison: on July 12, a liter of diesel cost 2,089 euros, super 2,095 euros.

“The price of gasoline has corrected downwards in recent days, the stock market is in the red,” confirms the spokesman for Vorarlberg Energy Traders, Peter Aberer. You can see this at gas stations.

German tank tourists stay away

But what you also feel there: tourists from German tanks are moving away. In Germany, diesel cost around 1.89 euros on Wednesday. The price of gasoline was 1,707 euros. At a petrol station in Lindau, for example, diesel cost €1.91 on Wednesday and a super €1.76.

According to the German ADAC, the reason for the lower fuel prices is the significantly lower crude oil prices. In addition, there is also the tax cut in Germany. That means gas stations in Germany are “a little cheaper than those in Austria,” says Aberer.

ÖAMTC still sees politics as a challenge

No one can say how long the relaxation will last, Aberer continued. “Nobody can make predictions, that’s for sure. We are already looking forward to this price reduction at gas stations. We expect it to continue, we expect further price reductions in the market during the winter,” the energy traders’ spokesperson said. .

ÖAMTC emphasized that the price level was still too high. That’s why it’s the politicians’ turn to reduce the cost burden. “This would be possible, for example, with the reduction of the tax on mineral oil”, says the ÖAMTC.

Gasoline prices fell again

Gasoline prices are falling for the fourth Tuesday in a row. However, prices are generally at a high level. On average in Austria, prices have dropped to around €1.80 per litre.
