The meeting, held in this capital, brought together graduates of medicine, sports degrees and various engineering disciplines, among other postgraduate degrees, as well as officials of that country’s embassy in that Andean nation.
The appointment was an opportune moment to share anecdotes about the experiences of young people while studying different professions at universities in different provinces of the country.
Likewise, there were numerous thanks to Cuba, its people, and to Fidel, the architects of ideas such as the creation of the Latin American Medical School, which has benefited thousands of Ecuadorian and international students, particularly from low-income families.
During the exchange, the young people who have formed the Plurinational Association of Students and Graduates of Cuba, Eloy Alfaro, recalled that they celebrate August 13, the date of birth of Fidel Castro, as the International Day of Solidarity with the Caribbean country have introduced.
The meeting was also a framework to formalize the collective’s accession to an initiative of the Friendship and Solidarity Movement and the Association of Cuban Residents in Ecuador to collect donations to purchase supplies to support the work following the great fire in the western zone of the island territory.
On behalf of the Cuban people and government, Ambassador Basilio Gutiérrez thanked for the support and stressed the importance of maintaining and deepening the historic ties between Cuba and Ecuador.
Likewise, he highlighted the figure of the historical leader, his thinking and the validity of his ideas in the current Latin American and world context.
