Ed Sheeran has donated a cool £1 million to his former Suffolk school so fans can pursue their passion for art.

The 32-year-old singer has openly shared his love of painting on social media and has now funded a new scholarship at Thomas Mills High School.

The grant was announced in a report by the Framlingham Foundation Trust, which is funded by Ed and aims to provide students with new learning resources as well as “a new Expressive Arts course in Year 8, introduced this year”.

Ed donated a similar figurine to the school back in 2022 to help students improve their musical skills.

Nikki Scholl, head of the school's arts department, told The Daily Star: “At a time when music and art are recognized as being so important to pupils' wellbeing… this school is very well placed to support pupils' artistic development support.” well-being. Thank you very much.'

Ed has also previously offered financial support for music, computer studies and photography at his old school.

He also previously donated to a primate school to fund musical equipment including new violins and violas for students.

The charity provides full scholarships to families who cannot afford school fees. Latest reports show it spent £91,000 on donations in 2022 and has a further £338,000 in funds.

Ed has previously flaunted his artistic talents on social media, revealing in 2019 that he spent an entire month painting during a break from music.

Sharing snaps of his eye-catching work on Instagram, he wrote: “Since the tour ended I've spent a whole month painting something I've never done before.”

“It was so much fun. If I'm honest, after the tour ended I felt a little useless because singing, writing and performing are all I've ever known, so it's nice to find a new way to be creative.

“I'd recommend everyone get some paints and splash around, it's so much fun.” Righto – back to hibernation x @marksurridge.”

Ed's work bore a striking resemblance to that of Jackson Pollock, who was widely known for his technique of pouring or squirting liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface.
