Eddie Izzard looked glamorous on Sunday as she led the celebrities at the British Film Institute’s event in London to celebrate the life of the late actor Alan Rickman.
The 60-year-old comedian wore a red midi dress with wrap detailing for the event, which came ahead of the forthcoming release of a book featuring Alan’s condensed diaries.
A host of famous faces and good friends of the legendary actor were also present at the memorial service – including Dame Emma Thompson and husband Greg Wise.
Harry Potter legend Alan died in 2016 at the age of 69 after a private battle with pancreatic cancer.

Eddie paired the red dress with black tights and upped her height with a pair of shiny pointed toe heels.
She added a bright red lip to match the look and beamed for snaps inside the BFI Southbank event – dubbed Madly, Deeply: A Celebration Of Alan Rickman.
Meanwhile, Emma – who has opposite Alan in a number of productions, including the classic Christmas film Actually Love – dressed smartly in a white shirt and gray tartan trousers.
Clinging to the forthcoming book, the actress also added a red-lip look as she beamed alongside her husband Greg.

The event, which celebrated Alan’s life and hugely successful career, was hosted by Mark Kermode and featured some of his most iconic on-screen moments as well as excerpts from his diaries.
Beginning in the early 1990’s, Alan wrote dozens of detailed handwritten diaries – all of which were edited and combined into a single volume to create the book Madly, Deeply: The Alan Rickman Diaries.

In June, it was announced that Henry Holt & Company would release Madly Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman, with a release date of October 4th.
The event’s celebrity guest list, who took to the stage to share anecdotes and stories about the late star, also included his wife Rima Horton, Dame Harriet Walker, Timothy Spall and Stanley Tucci.
While taking to the stage with animated stories of their memories with the star, so were Ruby Wax and Sir Ian McKellen.

Screen stars: The actor was a close friend of Alan’s and starred in his second directorial film and a number of other productions

Ruby has previously referred to Alan as her “mentor” and “icon” in the industry, telling Web last year: “He was hilarious. He was my mentor and he taught me how to do comedy. I would say he saved me.”
Alan died in January 2016 at the age of 69, months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The actor revealed his terminal cancer diagnosis to only close family and friends, with the public and many friends first learning about the disease when his death was announced.
And now, the legendary star’s diaries delve even deeper into his life on and off screen, allowing readers to learn more about his years in the spotlight.
