EDEN CONFIDENTIAL Sarah Fergusons footnote to the House of York

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Sarah Ferguson’s footnote to the House of York… a defiant message on her SHOES

Stripped of his military titles and royal patronage, and even suffering the outrage at losing his freedom of honor from the City of York this week, Prince Andrew has plenty to be discontented with.

But his beloved ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, is determined to make it clear that her family doesn’t feel sorry for themselves.

On a night out at Oswald’s private members’ club in Mayfair, Fergie, 62, consciously chose to wear a pair of blue velvet loafers handcrafted by Del Toro X Rotten Roach and emblazoned with the words “Never Complain, Never Explain” (circled below ) were printed ).

Sarah wore a pair of shoes that said “Never Complain, Never Explain.”

It’s been the royal family’s mantra since the Queen took the throne, and she’s stuck to the rule throughout her seven-decade reign.

If only Andrew had stuck with it instead of giving his disastrous interview to Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis in 2019…

After Freud’s separation, novelist Esther finds a new love – in the pub

Her great-grandfather, psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, claimed that our romantic relationships were modeled on our childhood ties to our parents.

And novelist Esther Freud suggested that her own father — the late famed artist Lucian Freud — was at the root of the failure of her marriage to actor David Morrissey.

“What mattered most to him was work,” said Esther, 58, whose unconventional childhood formed the basis of her acclaimed novel Hideous Kinky, which was adapted into a 1998 film starring Kate Winslet.

“As a result, in my relationships with men, I’ve never felt that I have a right to be more important than work.”

However, I can now reveal that Freud has found love again — and thankfully, her new boyfriend is an academic whose job isn’t to abandon her for months.

He is Gerry Simpson, 59, a law professor at the LSE. ‘Yes we are [a couple]’ he tells me.

They made their first public appearance together this week at an art exhibition preview party, Cheerio: 48 Hours with Francis Bacon, at the Tristan Hoare Gallery in Fitzrovia.

They first met at a north London pub, where Simpson was paying tribute to his new girlfriend in the thanks section of an academic book published last year.

He wrote: “All of this would have been impossible without the stroke of luck I experienced in meeting Esther Freud for the first time one winter evening at The Flask in Hampstead Village.”

Born in Aberdeenshire, Simpson was married to lawyer and LSE lecturer Deborah Cass, with whom he has two daughters.

Cass died of cancer in 2013 at the age of 53. Freud split from Morrissey in 2019 after 26 years together, 13 of them were married.

With his brooding looks and fascinating family history, they were one of society’s most famous show business couples.

The neighbor’s new balcony is no joke for comedy star Katherine

Comedian Katherine Ryan couldn’t see the funny side when one of her London neighbors built a balcony overlooking her swimming pool without planning permission.

“Because of my background in urban planning, I was able to report them,” says the Canadian comedian, who studied urban planning at the University of Toronto.

“I’m not a spy, but your prejudice against my property devalues my property.”

38-year-old Ryan, who stars in the Channel 4 hit 8 of 10 Cats, lives with his partner Bobby Kootstra, their 10-month-old son Frederick and their daughter Violet from a previous relationship.

She adds: “I have 12-year-old girls at the pool and then a bunch of builders who like to lean over the balcony and smoke.

I called the council. “I feel bad about it, but then I convinced myself not to do it. You have to dismantle it.’

Susie Dent, who sits in Dictionary Corner, is said to be Countdown’s wordsmith, while Rachel Riley is the show’s math genius.

But lexicographer Susie, who first appeared on the Channel 4 show in 1992, says her far more urbane co-star’s better grasp of slang often leaves her egg-faced over double entenders.

“There’s always so much room for innuendo,” Susie, 57, tells Saga.

“I’ll say something that’s in the Urban Dictionary [of slang], without knowing that it has another meaning. Rachel knows, and I see her laughing out of the corner of my eye, but I honestly don’t know what I said.”

Eamonn from TV loves a hug with Camilla

Cuddly TV presenter Eamonn Holmes provoked hundreds of online complaints when he joked that Prince Harry should be “thrown over the balcony” at Buckingham Palace.

But the Breakfast on GB News host is friendlier to other members of the royal family – perhaps too friendly.

“My favorite queen is Camilla,” says Holmes, 62. “She’s the most fun. I say to her, “How’s my favorite royal?” and I like to hug her.

“Charles once asked me, ‘Do I need to worry about the way you hug my wife?’ “She will make a great wife.”
