EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Sophie Anderton and her husband Count Balinski-Jundzill’s fears for refugees amid plans for a makeshift camp in their village

She was still in her teens when her appearance in a Gossard Bra campaign brought her national attention – attention for which, she later reflected, she was unsuited.

But since marrying her “soulmate,” Count Kazimierz “Kaz” Balinski-Jundzill, two years ago, Sophie Anderton, 46, is happier than she ever dared hope – and resilient enough to get through the crisis with Kaz’s support Heartbreak of a miscarriage.

But now the couple’s happiness – and that of the 200 residents of their neighboring village in Ireland – is in doubt as plans are in place to set up a makeshift camp for 950 Ukrainian refugees.

They fear the Irish government’s plans are wrong given the lack of local infrastructure and resources – not least for the refugees themselves.

“We haven’t received any formal notification,” says Kaz, 55, who was married to food writer and TV chef Lorraine Pascale but now lives with Sophie near the Wicklow Mountains at Glendalough House, in the heart of a sprawling 1,400-acre estate .

While the couple and Kaz’s mother are the main residents of the property, the land surrounding the main house is owned by a trust and the couple insist they were unaware of the plans to house refugees there.

“It was actually a neighbor who [alerted] “Us,” Kaz explains, adding that the local village of Annamoe is nothing more than a hamlet with “absolutely no infrastructure – no post office, no facilities.”

Even worse is the plan to accommodate the refugees in tents in a field, he says.

“It’s essentially a festival-style camp behind a steel fence.” It’s exposed to the elements. Within about five minutes of the heavy rain, it’s a mud bath. “Ireland doesn’t know much about this sort of thing,” adds Kaz, whose own family were refugees from Poland in World War II.

You are joking! Jodie’s refreshing dip

She’s usually seen wearing a bikini in tropical destinations – but Jodie Kidd also seems comfortable in the chilly waters of the English Channel.

The 45-year-old model and customs officer braved the waves in a one-piece suit at Whitsand Bay in Cornwall yesterday, where temperatures were 13C. In a video shared online, Jodie can be seen wearing the stars and stripes swimsuit during what she says was a “beautiful October swim in Cornwall” in the sea.

However, she wore a colorful bobble hat.

“Something had to be kept warm,” she whines.

I’m sure her bravery will impress her fiancé, former Royal Marine Joseph Bates.

King Charles is known to talk to plants, but I’ve now heard that he has a penchant for jewelry made from recycled plant pots. The monarch was gifted designs by Vin + Omi, a sustainable brand that makes clothes from garden waste from His Majesty’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. “He has two pieces of jewelry that we made from hard-to-recycle black flower pots,” Vin tells me at a fashion salon in London. “He really liked it and wrote us a letter afterwards.” “The king is very funny compared to other sustainable guys who are pretty boring.”

King promotes his “good” aide

New job: Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson

New job: Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson

Catapulted into the limelight by his duties at the Queen’s funeral and King Charles’ proclamation, Lieutenant-Colonel Jonathan “Johnny” Thompson, 40, has now been promoted to His Majesty’s right-hand man.

In the new position, the married father-of-one is expected to become the monarch’s “super equerry” and help manage the private affairs of the King and Queen Camilla.

His promotion comes as he is retiring from service with the 5th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland.

His performances in kilts won him female fans and earned him the title of “handsome” aide. This year he received the seal of approval from social bible Tatler, earning him third place on the annual Social Power Index list.

“Within the palace walls, the king’s equerry wields his unique, quiet, enchanting power,” it said.

There was a poignant moment in peerage history yesterday with the funeral in Sussex of Charles Kerr, 2nd Lord Teviot, 88, undoubtedly the first and probably last hereditary peer from Old Eton to be a bus driver before taking office Seat in the House of Lords.

While “on the bus” in Brighton, he married his “clippie” – or conductor – Patricia Harris.

Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia also mourned his death at the service.

Bros star Matt Goss has called on musicians to protect their work from exploitation by artificial intelligence (AI).

“I think AI is inevitable, but we urgently need to make sure that copyrights are in place, for your image, for your likeness, for your voice, because at the moment these are areas that are not being addressed,” he tells me a party in Mayfair. “We must ensure that our voices and speaking voices are protected by copyright in the world of AI, otherwise we will lose our identity.”

Goss, 55, the lead singer of the 1980s boy band, added: “We have to protect – I really believe that.”

TV Sarah’s fight for a happy home

TV show guru Sarah Beeny beat breast cancer when she was given the all-clear in April – but now she says her marriage is on shaky ground.

Beeny, 51, who has been married to artist Graham Swift for 21 years and with whom she has four sons, says the couple have had problems. “We’re holding on by our fingernails,” she tells The Mid.Point With Gabby Logan podcast.

“To be honest, I’ve been a bit terrible at times over the last few years, and he said, ‘You know the thing is Sarah, you’re not prepared to go and have your children half the time, and either.’ “I am, so we’ll stay together, and we’ll stay together happily or unhappily, so which one would you like?”

“So I thought, ‘Okay, we’re going to make it work, right?’ ‘ admits the Property Ladder star.
