EDGE Transfer Mitchell Agud Moves to Miami

Another transfer to Miami after the former UCLA EDGE. Mitchell Agud made his promise to the Hurricanes after a major official visit that ended at the Morton Steakhouse in Coral Gables. He preferred Miami to Oregon, Washington, and Tennessee.

Ducks and Huskies were hosting official visits, and volunteers were scheduled for April 1st.

While the 6ft 4in, 245lb, who also has an 81in wingspan, had his typical three-day official visit, Agude also spent some time in Dade County during spring break. His parents met him in Miami on Monday morning to take part in the celebrations.

The Hurricanes had a variety of staff involved in Agude’s recruitment, including NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, who works in Miami as a defensive analyst, defensive line coach Joe Salave’a, and defensive end coach Rod Wright. All three played football at the highest level, which Agude and his family took notice of.

“To me, they are all former NFL players in the state,” one of the attendees captioned a video posted on social media showing Agude with Taylor.

Last fall, Agude was selected to the All-Pac-12 Second Team after four fumbles and 6.5 tackles for a 38 quarterback-pressed loss with Chip Kelly and the Bruins. In two seasons in Los Angeles, Aguda had to fumble the ball six times.

“We love Mitch,” UCLA head coach Chip Kelly said of Aguda back in mid-September. “Since he got here, he really stepped in right away. It has maturity. He never acted like a rookie. He looked like he had been here for a long time. He is very dedicated to everything he does. He takes everything very seriously. He takes school very seriously. He takes his work very seriously. He takes the gym very seriously. He takes training very seriously. He kind of sets the tone for our defensive success because of how hard he plays.”

He also becomes Mario Cristobal & Co.’s seventh transfer and fourth defensively, including linebacker Jake Lichtenstein (USC), linebacker Antonio Moultrie (UAB) and defenseman Daryl Porter (WV).

The new senior, who will be the third former Bruin to move to Miami, will have another year of eligibility.
