Ediciones Icaic remains very present at the Book Fair

The cinema spreads its nets. Relationship of the big screen to other arts is the text recently presented by Ediciones Icaic at the 30th Havana International Book Fair. The work of José Alberto Lezcano is one of the proposals of the Cuban Institute for Cinematic Art and Industry (Icaic) within the framework of the great literary festival in Cuba, which also hosts the launch of the volume Sergio Corrieri, beyond memory…, by Luisa Marisy. The label, which will soon be celebrating its 60th anniversary, presents itself on the Cuban literary scene with an amazing catalog due to its inclusive and diverse qualities, according to writer and critic Enrique Pérez.
Buena Fe and Arnaldo Rodríguez earned National Vanguard status
The music groups Buena Fe and Arnaldo Rodríguez y su Talismán received the 2021 National Vanguard status, awarded by the National Union of Cultural Workers for their achievements and social and cultural impact over the past year. The Memorial de la Denuncia, the only one of its kind in Cuba, was the site chosen to honor the work and dedication of these artists who show that music lives in the work of those who make it a common good . Buena Fe, a group favored by the public for more than 20 years, had a total of 69 presentations in 2021 with activities of social, political and cultural interest, booths, presentations in communities, work and study centers.
Tony Ávila dedicates a DVD to Vicente Feliú

A total of 15 themes are gathered in this episode in which he travels from song to guaracha, approaching various social themes in Cuba and the world to which he has already accustomed us. During the concert Tony will play songs from his previous albums Timbirichi, Let there be light and En Tierra as well as the DVD dream catcher.
Italian dancer Roberto Bolle wants to dance in Cuba in 2022
Famous Italian dancer Roberto Bolle visited the headquarters of the National Ballet of Cuba and told the press that he hopes to dance for the island’s audiences in December this year. It’s a great pleasure to be here, said the world dance superstar, predicting her presence on the country’s stages at the upcoming Havana edition of the Alicia Alonso International Ballet Festival. After 17 years, Bolle returned to the land of the prima ballerina assoluta to exchange ideas with young professionals in the dance group she founded and to take part in a master class with Maestro Ernesto Díaz.

Real events are reconstructed from thorough historical investigation, but spiced with the imagination of an author particularly concerned with the psychology of a revolutionary leader who knows he is about to be assassinated. The novel of how it all unfolds in one night and one day, plays out tongue-in-cheek over a 15-hour period Bertillon 166 and to the city of Santiago de Cuba.
The 16th German Film Week is approaching
The Cuban Cinematheque is preparing today the premiere of seven productions that will take place during the XVI. German Cinema Week, taking place in the capital from May 4th to 11th, will explore Europe’s audiovisual heritage. For the official opening, the event reserves the right to show undine, by Christian Petzold, who connects the life of a young historian and urban development specialist in Berlin with the old myth according to which she has to kill her partner after the courtship breaks up. As a novelty, the Cine 23 y 12 of the capital is showing a retrospective of four films dedicated to the German filmmaker Claudia von Alemann, whose work finds points of contact with the struggles for gender equality both in everyday life and in the world of seventh art.
Havana is Guest of Honor at the International Book Fair in Buenos Aires
The 46th edition of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair, one of the largest literary events in Latin America, opened its doors in the Argentine capital with Havana as the Guest of Honour. After a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the long-awaited Festival of Letters will take place in the La Rural exhibition space, which will last until May 16th. The event, organized by the El Libro Foundation, will include the participation of exhibitors from more than 40 countries and numerous cultural activities. On this occasion, Cuban literature, cinema, music and handicrafts will decorate the fair, which is expected by more than a million readers and 12,000 professionals for almost three weeks.
