French actor Edouard Baer (Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cléopâtre) and Julie Le Breton will exchange lines in “The Chef and the Customs Officer” by Manon Briand, which brings them together. The feature film, which brings together two completely opposite characters, will be shot in Montreal and Montérégie in the coming weeks.
It tells the story of Victor (Edouard Baer), a rather unpleasant French chef who was prevented from entering Canada by Sonia, the adamant customs officer from a small village on the border with the United States. The latter changes her mind and asks him for help when her daughter registers for a cooking competition in which she risks failing.
I like characters who start out as losers. [perdants] great, said Edouard Baer in an interview with Catherine Richer, culture columnist at 15-18. I like that Victor is a little tough, but full of enthusiasm.
love stories
For her part, Julie Le Breton explains that she is still refining the relationship between her character and that of Edouard Baer. We find little nuances, moments in which Edouard and I have these little conflicts that create the necessary tension for the romantic comedy.
Nevertheless, the ingredients for the magic are there: During an interview, the playing partners throw flowers at each other.
At the same time, Edouard Baer also experiences another love story. The actor praises Montreal, its greenery and its population.
I like to talk easily to people. I tend to talk when I enter a business, approaching people walking their dogs or watering their plants. In Paris we seem crazy, annoying, but here it’s normal.
The cast of “The Chef and the Customs Officer” also includes Sylvain Marcel, Élodie Fontaine, Lélia Nevert, Oussama Farès, Douaa Kachache, Normand Chouinard, Michèle Deslauriers and Dominic Paquet. There is no release date for the film yet.
