Edward Enninful's Vogue cover icons “had to make sure everything went smoothly” so Gigi Hadid could return home for her beloved daughter Khai

Edward Enninful gathered 40 British Vogue cover stars for his final shoot before he retires for good.

And to ensure “everything went smoothly” for each other, Edward revealed that the stars made sure Gigi Hadid, 28, could return to her beloved daughter Khai, three, as quickly as possible.

Gigi, who shares Khai with her ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik, has decided not to share photos of her face online.

Amid the famous faces' busy schedules, the icons gathered to make sure Gigi wasn't late home for her toddler.

Explaining the shoot, Edward wrote, “As the models milled around at 8 a.m., the movie icons, the musicians, the moguls, the sports legends and media stars arrived.” Mother and daughter Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford carpooled.

“The same goes for Salma Hayek Pinault and Linda Evangelista, as Salma stayed at Linda's house the night before.

“Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus narrowly snuck into their pop star dates. And everyone made sure everything went smoothly so Gigi Hadid could get home on time to see her toddler.”

Victoria Beckham was among 40 iconic stars who came together to photograph Edward's latest issue.

Edward, the publication's first male and first Black editor, announced in June that he was stepping down to take on a new global role at publisher Conde Nast.

He made sure to make his latest cover one to remember by gathering Kate Moss, Salma Hayek, Oprah and Miley Cyrus in one room to pose for the snap.

Edward revealed how he came to choose the symbols: “When it came to my last issue, I knew the cover would be dedicated to women.” Of course!

“It was clear to all of us on the team that no single woman could or should summarize the last few years for the magazine. “What we needed was a group that would draw on the power of the collective to bring to life what we hope will be a bold, disruptive and evolutionary period in Vogue’s history.”

After sending out requests to his 40 cover stars, Edward confessed he was holding his breath, hoping they would say yes before the celebrities flew in from London, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles and beyond for the December shoot in New York City York to arrive.

Edward concluded: “So here it is: my 76th and final issue of Vogue, six and a half years and 153 cover stars later, including the 40 legendary women featured on this cover.” It has been an extraordinary ride and an absolute honor.

“As I begin my new role as Condé Nast’s global creative and cultural advisor to Vogue, I am committed to continuing to champion the incredible diversity of voices in fashion and media and ensuring we keep the energy explosion of the last few years going. “.

“We always say it because it always needs to be said: “There is still a lot to do.””
