Edwin Castro, the $2.04 billion Powerball lottery winner, buys a $47 million Los Angeles mansion as his real estate portfolio grows and he lives the big life

Edwin Castro, the winner of the record-breaking $2 billion Powerball jackpot, continues to rise and expand his real estate portfolio.

The new billionaire from Bel Air has now purchased a $47 million Los Angeles estate sold by celebrity real estate agent Mauricio Umansky.

The massive property features seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a koi pond and a huge infinity pool with views of all of LA. It complements his other home in Bel Air and a residence in Altadena.

Castro’s life changed when he bought the winning ticket at a local gas station last year.

In February, Castro claimed $2.04 billion in winnings from the November drawing and settled for the lump sum of $997.6 million. Since then he has been spotted in a Porsche and at the houses.

His identity was revealed at a press conference, which he declined to attend for “privacy” reasons.

But California state law requires lottery winners to reveal their full name whether they want to or not.

Castro has been living large since his win and is now purchasing three separate mansions in California for a total of $76 million. He was also seen driving away from a bank in a vintage Porsche.

The new seven-bed, 11-bath palazzo features DJ turntables, a champagne tasting room and a floating glass walkway.

As you enter the building, a huge, swimming pool-sized koi pond with glass walls and an infinity pool awaits you in the foyer.

The entire house is equipped with electric cables so even those taking a dip in the pool can feel the beat, making it the perfect place for a party.

The home even comes complete with a bar area, a glass-walled wine cellar, and a huge home theater and screening room.

Of course, the bedrooms have walk-in closets, sitting areas, so-called “relaxation suites,” and large bathtubs – luxury at the highest level.

One of his new homes is a $4 million mansion, also in the Los Angeles area.

The home features its own home theater, private office, and expensive artwork, which is sure to be enhanced given Castro’s new, hefty bank balance.

The Altadena home is just a short drive from Castro.

If Castro tires of the $4 million estate, he’ll be just about 20 miles from his second complex in California, which he bought a week earlier for $25 million.

The sprawling, 13,500-square-foot hillside property features a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, gym, wine cellar and infinity pool.

At the time of his win, Castro said in a prepared statement, “As shocked and thrilled as I am to have won the Powerball drawing, the real winner is California’s public school system.”

Public schools in California benefit from the state lottery.

This means the education system received over $156 million from the record-breaking victory.
