Egypt joins global condemnation of Israeli minister

“It is the responsibility of the international community to firmly confront this discourse of violence, hatred and racism,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.

While the world is discussing nuclear disarmament and its dangers, some seem to be interested in more destruction and death, he emphasized.

During an interview with Radio Kol Berama yesterday, a journalist asked Heritage head Amichai Eliyahu whether a nuclear bomb should be dropped on the coastal enclave, to which the official explained that “that is one of the possibilities.”

The official reminded Eliyahu that about 240 Israelis and foreigners are prisoners of Palestinian militias, saying he prays and hopes for their return, but that “war also has costs.”

Eliyahu also opposed sending humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and favored the establishment of Jewish colonies in this coastal enclave, which is considered by the international community to be part of the future Palestinian state.

When asked about the fate of Palestinian civilians, he replied: “They can go to Ireland or to the desert.”

These words triggered a wave of international criticism, forcing the politician to say that he had spoken metaphorically.

Eliyahu’s words reveal the true face of the Israeli executive and all those who defend it in the West, wrote Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

The Arab Parliament made a similar statement when it condemned these statements, which “confirm the criminal and racist character of the occupying power (Israel) and its persistent and blatant disregard for all international laws and norms.”

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry described these statements as barbaric and racist and viewed them as a clear recognition of the systematic Israeli massacres in the occupied territories.

Even Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid condemned the minister, calling his words “crazy and shocking.”
