It’s a drama that just happened in Egypt. Last week a Russian tourist, Vladimir Popov, was killed by a tiger shark a few meters from shore at a seaside resort. Remains of his body have just been found in the animal’s stomach.

A young man being eaten alive
The 23-year-old had left Russia and had been living in Egypt with his family for a few months. When he was bathing in Hurghada in the middle of the day and other bathers were nearby, he was suddenly the victim of a fierce attack by a tiger shark. Shipowner videos — with shocking images — show the animal circling its victim, who kept screaming, “Dad, save me!” The young man desperately tried to reach the shore while horrified holidaymakers shouted at him to swim.

Then the shark launched its attack, pulling the Russian under the surface as the water turned red. The young man’s head reappears one last time, begging for help before being devoured.
Yuri Popov, the victim’s father, told Media 112: “We went to the beach to relax. My son was attacked by a shark, everything happened in seconds. What can you help with? This meat grinder has arrived.” 20 seconds and my son was just pulled under the water. It’s an absolutely ridiculous coincidence because it’s a safe beach. There are boats and yachts nearby. That never happened there. Sharks usually attack wild beaches. It’s just kind of a bad fate.”

The Autopsied Shark
The tiger shark was then grabbed and dragged ashore by boat before being slain on the beach “in revenge”.
Egyptian authorities said the animal was entrusted to specialists to find out the causes of its behavior and whether the animal had already “caused several previous accidents”. According to the media Al Arabiya, after the autopsy, the remains of the young man were found in his intestines. dr Mahmoud Dar, a professor at Egypt’s National Institute of Marine Sciences, also revealed that the shark was a female, but nothing else has been found so far.
