The wife of Mexican crime boss El Chapo has been released from US custody after less than two years in prison.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, 34, was released Wednesday afternoon from a halfway house that is part of Long Beach Residential Reentry Management.

She was sentenced to three years in prison in November 2021 for helping her husband in his multi-billion dollar drug empire.

In a statement, the Federal Bureau of Prisons said: “We can confirm that Emma Coronel Aispuro was released from FBOP custody today, September 13, 2023.”

“For privacy and security reasons, the FBOP does not provide additional information about those no longer in our custody.”

According to NBC News, Emma Coronel Aispuro, 34, was fired from Long Beach Residential Reentry Management on Wednesday afternoon

Colonel Aispuro, a dual U.S. and Mexican citizen, pleaded guilty to several federal drug charges.

This included a conspiracy to distribute heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.

According to Telemundo, she had already asked for forgiveness during the sentencing.

A judge in the case issued a judgment forfeiting nearly $1.5 million in funds derived from the illegal trades.

Former beauty queen Aispuro was arrested at Dulles International Airport in February 2021.
