More than 2.6 Galician voters went to the polls

In total 2,693,624 Galicians can take part in the regional elections which will be celebrated this Sunday, February 18, according to data published in December by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

From them, 2,217,110 live in Galicia and 476,514, 17.7% of the census, live abroad. In addition, 79,072 people will be able to take part in the elections to the Galician Parliament for the first time, having reached the age of 18 since the last vote on July 12, 2020.

By constituency, in To Coruna There will be 1,088,386 Galicians eligible to vote widest, followed by Pontevedra with 911,704 suffragettes. In Lugo, 337,734 people can cast their votes, in Ourense 355,800.

The day takes place 2,347 polling stations that will accommodate a total of 3,950 tables.

Of all the Galicians called to vote, there are almost half a million 476,514 living abroad and that on this occasion, as in the general elections in July 2023, they do not have to have previously “begged” to be allowed to vote.

The final Census of Absentee Residents (CERA) for 18F, also published by the INE, again reflects a Increase in registered people compared to the census of the last general election – with an increase of more than 4,000 people –.
