Absolute majority of seats

That means 237 seats in the 400-seat House of Representatives and 115 seats in the 200-seat Senate, a clear majority. Its main rival, the centre-left Democratic Party (PD), won 19% of the vote. With its small environmentalists and left-wing allies, the PD will have 84 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 44 seats in the Senate.

The 5 Star Movement received 15.4% of the vote in the Chamber of Deputies and will have 52 seats in the lower house and 28 in the upper house.

The centrist Azione alliance received 7.8% of the vote and will hold 21 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and nine seats in the Senate. The remaining seats go to the smaller parties.
