Hours before the gates opened for the first day of Electric Zoo, the New York City-based EDM festival, producers pulled the plug.

The festival posted a message at 11:35 a.m. Friday explaining the decision to cancel the day; The doors were supposed to open at 3pm. Artists scheduled to perform on Friday included Kx5 (aka Deadmau5 and Kaskade), Galantis and The Chainsmokers.

“It is with heartbreak that we must inform you that despite our tireless efforts and around-the-clock commitment, we have made the painful decision to cancel the first day of Electric Zoo,” the festival’s website reads. “This year has brought unprecedented challenges for everyone. Global supply chain disruptions are impacting industries around the world, and unfortunately our beloved festival has not been spared. These unexpected delays prevented us from completing construction of the main stage in time for Day 1.”

People who purchased Friday tickets will receive a full refund. Holders of multi-day tickets will receive a partial refund of one day. People who purchased ferry and bus tickets to get to the festival on Friday will also receive refunds for their transportation costs, according to the festival, with those with multi-day transportation plans receiving prorated refunds.
