Since the last election campaign last fall, the Energy File has been in the news constantly.

We thought Quebec would never exploit hydroelectric power, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon tries to soothe by saying housing and businesses will never run out. But when we think about electric cars, business needs and Quebec’s decarbonization, we can ask ourselves questions!
How come ?
A few years ago, as a people, we decided to nationalize hydroelectric power, it’s part of Quebec’s DNA.
It is hard to imagine that we will have to say no to economic development and energy transition projects due to the lack of electricity resources.
However, this is the reason Mr. Fitzgibbon gave to justify the fact that the Volkswagen plant is to be located in St-Thomas, Ontario and not here in Quebec.
In an interview Tuesday with Mario Dumont at LCN, the superminister said he had 50 projects under his belt that required 50 megawatts or more.
A big challenge!
To achieve this, the Minister of Energy believes that energy sobriety will allow us to continue our development because, in his opinion, Quebecers use their hydropower poorly.
Our war effort
This is how the idea came about to turn off our dishwasher at night. Hydro-Québec will therefore encourage us to consume off-peak.
Dishwasher, washing machine and heating are among the favorite pastimes of people suffering from insomnia today.
We can make an effort individually, but it will take more than that.
Apparently, Hydro-Québec needs a new boss with the skills of a “beaver” to build dams.
The energy demand will be considerable in the coming years. Therefore, it would be utopian to think that we would save Quebec one plate at a time.
