VERONA – Listen and watch, calm and good. Made in Italy rock has returned home after glorious performances abroad. The exhibition of maneskin last night atVerona ArenaFilled to the last level, it was like the electric shock that revives even sleepers. It was there yesterday First date in Italy after the two weekends at Coachella, the world’s most important festival. Damiano David (vocals), Thomas Raggi (guitar) and Ethan Torchio (drums) and Victoria De Angelis (bass), who just turned 22 yesterday in the audience greeting, surprised everyone. Like it or not, it was the demonstration of how these four guys got into fifth gear and don’t want to stop: from performing in Via del Corso in Rome, to X-Factor, to winning Sanremo and Eurovision. And from there they went into orbit. “So, Verona, how are you?” We are happy to be here. Make a bloody mess!” And down the chorus of 12,000 spectators. To applaud them – complete with photos on Instagram – also Zucchero (who is at home at the arena for the tour these days).
LEAD AND SHOW The rock gladiators entered the arena at 9:20 p.m. And then an hour and forty show, a stage change, more than 400 lights behind and a red M-shaped platform, a small inconvenience at Touch me that makes them stop, but then they start again in a big way, um to end with more than fifty fans on stage, between selfies and rock. The manner of the line-up proceeds just like the Coachella exhibition. He starts with Zitti e Buoni, winner of the double Sanremo / Eurovision, then In the name of his father and Mammamia. Songs that form a season with some of the tracks included on the two CDs, from Close to the Top to The Distance Words of The Dance of Life in Coraline, The Fear of the Dark by Teatro d’ira – vol. I. Next up are the covers of Beggin’, Womanizer by Britney Spears and I Wanna Be Your Dog by the Stooges. The Ukrainian flag flew on stage during Gasoline, the tribute to Charlie Chaplin with the speech of The Great Dictator. All surrounded by pink suits, with colored stripes, lace, stars, signed Gucci.
Before the acoustic moment from the royal stage with Torna a casa comes Manuel Agnelli, a surprise guest. A revival that takes them back to 2017, to the X Factor (they finished runner-up) under the watchful eye of the leader of the Afterhours, in this judges’ edition. Repeat the cover of CCCP sung along with Festival Amandoti. “If you remember, when we left X Factor in 2017, the main criticism was that we did the covers – says Damiano on stage – and I replied: thank God.”
MOMAMIA, THE NUMBERS And it’s true. Måneskin have unequivocally confirmed that the Pindaric flight from live shows in Rome’s Via del Corso to stages around the world is sacrosanct. The numbers that fall in the short span of one year are staggering: 10 diamond discs, 185 platinum and 42 gold worldwide, and more than 4.5 billion streams across all digital platforms. And in 2021 they inaugurate them among the most listened to Italians in the world on Spotify. The next stops in Italy are on June 23 at the Teghil Stadium in Lignano Sabbiadoro and on July 9 at the Circus Maximus in Rome. And since October their first world tour, Loud Kids Tour. Meanwhile, for those lucky enough to be there, they saw an amazing show. Rock is alive and has risen.
