Eleven Israeli soldiers have been killed fighting Hamas terrorists in Gaza since the Jewish nation stepped up ground operations in Palestinian territory, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The IDF initially announced that two soldiers, Sgt. Roy Wolf and Sgt. Levi Lifshitz, were killed in close combat in northern Gaza on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Then the Israeli military confirmed on Wednesday that nine more soldiers were killed fighting Hamas in the Palestinian enclave on Tuesday.
The IDF identified the soldiers as Cpl. Asif Loger, Lt. Ariel Reich, Sgt. Hillel Solomon, Sgt. Adi Danan, Sgt. Adi Leon, Sgt. Erez Mishlovski, Cpl. Lior Siminowitz, Cpl. Ido Ovadia, Sgt. Roy Wolf and Sgt. Roi Daoui.

According to Israeli officials, the ages of the 11 fallen soldiers were between 19 and 24 years old.
Israel began a new phase of the war with ground troops in Gaza over the weekend after carrying out retaliatory air strikes in response to the October 7 killing of more than 1,400 Israelis by Hamas.
More than 300 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the Hamas attack in Israel that sparked the war.

The Hamas-backed health ministry in Gaza claims more than 8,000 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict erupted last month.
Troops freed an IDF soldier from Hamas captivity during a ground operation, the military said on Monday.
Hamas took more than 200 hostages in the terrorist group’s brutal attack.
