Eleven Palestinian journalists have died and 20 have been injured in the Gaza Strip since Israeli bombings of the area began 10 days ago, a source in the sector reported on October 16.
In its latest report on the issue, the Freedom Committee of the Palestinian Union of Journalists said that among those who died were Voice of Prisoners Radio programmer Ahmed Shehab, photojournalists Mohamed Al-Salhi and Mohamed Fayez Abu Matar, and Hisham Al-Nawajah. Photographer at Khabar Agency.
The list includes Muhammad Abu Rizq of the Ain Media Foundation; Ibrahim Lafi, editor of a news agency, and communicators Asaad Shamlikh, Salam Mayma and Hossam Mubarak.
The report states that there is no news yet about two other people: Nidal Al-Wahidi, producer of Al-Najah TV, and Haitham Abdel Wahed of the Ain Media Foundation.
During the ongoing aggression, 20 houses of journalists were bombed, some of which were completely destroyed, the committee complained.
In addition, 50 headquarters of institutions in the sector were attacked, including the offices of Qatari television channel Al Jazeera, Palestine TV, Maan and Khabar news agencies, and Al Quds and Al Ayyam newspapers.
