Ellie appeared smitten with surf instructor Armando on holiday this week, just days after confirming their split.
It came after the couple were spotted packing on the PDA on the romantic trip just days before.
In a statement released on Friday, Ellie and Caspar finally addressed their split, telling friends of the couple to Web that she had “moved away some time ago”.
Armando and his brother Gero run the La Puente Surfhouse and Hostel on the West Coast for $70 a night.
The trip to Costa Rica is her second this year. It is believed Ellie met her new love interest during a previous holiday in January.
Known to his friends as Tio, the sun-kissed surf instructor who smooches Ellie promises to be a patient teacher and to help students “read the sea” as long as they are “patient” and “respect its power.”

He has been surfing the same stretch of the Pacific Ocean since childhood, after his parents moved to the resort town of Playa Hermosa, near the Nicaraguan border.
“I have been surfing since I was a child. “The waves of Playa Hermosa are my home and I am a very good host,” he wrote on his website.
And the handsome teacher is not only a master of his craft, including his signature “back-attack move,” but also a huge hit with his students.
In the picture, Ellie was seen without her wedding ring as Armando wrapped his arms around her waist as they kissed in the sea last week.
In June, the Costa Rican surfer took Shakira to lessons while the hitmaker vacationed in his home country.
Ellie and her ex-art dealer Caspar reportedly lived separate lives for at least six months, despite trying to sort things out for their two-year-old son Arthur.

The couple are now expected to divorce after confirming their four-year marriage is over after exhausting all options, Web can reveal.
In a statement, the musician wrote: “In light of recent stories, I feel that I have no choice but to inform you all that Caspar and I separated privately some time ago.”
“We remain the closest of friends and have successfully cared for the children together, with our sons' well-being at heart.” We are committed to protecting our family's privacy and thank people in advance for their support respect our wishes – we will not comment further. Thank you very much.'
Friends of the couple told Web: “Divorce is the only outcome” after they split after two years of fighting to save their relationship.
Sources close to Ellie have said it's not the ideal ending for her, but it's the “only” one after she's exhausted all options with Caspar.
A pal said: “Ellie and Caspar have been together for a while but they acted like they were together.”
“The fact is that it's over. Ellie moved on a while ago, but she didn’t want anyone to know.”
They continued: “But now she's enjoying the company of other men and there's just no turning back.”
“It's so sad, especially because they had little Arthur but couldn't manage it and now, really sadly, it's going to end in a divorce.” There's no way to save the marriage, the only way ending it now is a divorce.
