Elliot Page revealed on the set of Inception that he developed stress-related shingles

Elliot Page revealed that he developed stress-related shingles on the set of “Inception” in 2010 after feeling “out of place in a cast full of cis men.”

The Oscar-nominated star, 36, opens up about the incident that has revealed his life in show business so far in his new book Pageboy.

Elliot – who was just 22 at the time – said he was ill with the condition and feared he would be “recast with Keira Knightley”.

He starred in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy.

He wrote, “Shingles expressed the stress my body was feeling.” It jumped out of my back while filming “Inception” when I was twenty-two.

“While everyone was pleasant to work with, I felt out of place.” In a cast full of cis men, I didn’t understand the role I was in.

“During the first two weeks of the film, I joked that I would be recast as Keira Knightley, and rightly so.”

It comes as Elliot said a male director tried to set him up for sex when he was a teenager.

He claimed he was having dinner in Toronto at the French restaurant Swan on Queen West when the incident happened.

The Canadian actress – who was once known as Ellen Page and came out as transgender in 2020 – said the director began stroking his thigh under the table to seduce him.

The Umbrella Academy said the filmmaker, in their effort to encourage physical intimacy, whispered to him, “You have to make the move, I can’t.”

The Juno star said that “the director’s frequent writing made me feel special, as did the books he gifted me with.”

In a chapter of the book entitled “Leeches,” Page said that on a previous film he was working on, “a crew member did the same thing” by making overt sexual advances towards him.

“In between takes, he would talk to me about art and movies … he invited me to hang out on a Saturday afternoon,” Page said in the book. “After a walk in the rain, he grabbed me and told me to go upstairs.”

“As he pulled me into his body, I could feel his hard cock against me.”

Page described another instance of sexual harassment while working on the 2005 film Hard Candy at the age of 17.

He said a crew member on the dramatic thriller-turned-director made strong advances towards him at a wrap-up party for the film.

“He was funny and weird, and he was nice to me,” Page said in the book. “We talked about books, discussed movies and obscure, depressing graphic novels.”

“A twinkle in his eyes made me feel seen and supported.” He even had a sweetness.’

Page said the crew member invited himself to Page’s apartment and put his hands on his shoulders.

Page said he was “unsure of what to do” and “went stiff with a smile” at the advances.

“He put me on the bed,” Page said, adding that the crew member took off his pants and said he wanted to perform oral sex on him.

“I froze,” Page said. “After it was over, he tried to stay in bed with me. I was slightly thawed and told him he couldn’t get out. He slept on the couch.’

Page said that on the set of another film, a female crew member attacked him several times.

Page said the circumstances of his life and career made him a “perfect target” for sex offenders in the industry.

“As puberty turned me into a character I had no interest in playing, my isolation, insecurity and ignorance grew,” Page said. “I absolutely had to anchor myself. In new cities, without friends, alone in hotel rooms, it was not difficult for someone to get loot. I’m sure they feel it.’

Elsewhere in his new memoir, Page vividly described his failed attempts to have sex with a man at age 16, when he was struggling with his sexuality years before coming out as gay.

Page revealed that he once dated a classmate named Kenneth and repeatedly tried to lose his virginity to him – to no avail.

Page said the couple, who met in 10th grade at Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax, Nova Scotia, would “fool around upstairs” and engage in “dry humping,” but Page didn’t get excited.

He wrote, “Kenneth was sweet, sensitive and sweet.” A unique face with prominent cheekbones and bright eyes, his hair is dark brown and limp.

“We’d fool around upstairs.” I didn’t really like it, but I didn’t mind either.

“The kissing, well. The dry humping, okay. I would pretend to have an orgasm. Not that Kenneth wasn’t, or wouldn’t be, great in bed. I’m sure he would be a selfless and generous lover.’

To go into more detail, Page said that when they tried to have sex, Kenneth wasn’t able to penetrate him, adding, “That whole ‘wet’ thing didn’t happen.”

“We tried and then stopped, tried and then stopped, tried and then stopped, and then we stopped trying.” “I was lucky that it was with someone as lovely as him, it could have been otherwise.” can end.”

The star added that due to a tear in her privates in a rollerblade accident, she “had an idea that something had happened to my vagina — which caused my body to refuse entry.”

“Everybody was talking about doing it, having sex and being virginity … and I didn’t get it.” Did everyone do the same?

“I’ve avoided sex with men and suppressed my genuine, unrequited crushes. “My brain couldn’t grasp that I just wasn’t interested, that I just didn’t want to go through with it, which would be a perfectly reasonable feeling and reaction.”

Page came out as a lesbian in 2014 — and transitioned from a woman to a man six years later.

This comes after Page claimed he had sex with Juno co-star Olivia Thirlby “all the time” while they were filming the hit 2007 film – just days after he revealed he had a secret romance with Kate Mara .

The star said he was immediately attracted to Thirlby, now 36, who played Juno’s best friend Leah in the film, as he opened up about their affair in Pageboy.

He said, “I was surprised when I saw Olivia Thirlby.” She seemed so much older, capable and centered.

“Sexually open, a far cry from where I was then.” But the chemistry was palpable, it pulled me in.”

Page – who played pregnant teenager Juno MacGuff in the film – opened up about how they started “face sucking” in a hotel room after Thirlby admitted she was “really attracted to him,” to which Page returned her feelings.

He wrote: “It was on. I had an all-encompassing longing for her, she made me yearn in a new, hopeful way.”

He added that it was one of the first times someone made him cum.

Page said he and Thirlby had sex “constantly,” writing, “In her hotel room, in our trailers at work, once in a tiny, private room at a restaurant … We thought we were being subtle.” The intimacy with Olivia helped me banish my shame. I didn’t see the slightest sparkle of it in her eyes and I wanted that – done with feeling miserable about who I am.”

Around the time Page and Thirlby were making Juno, the pair were set to play the title characters on Jack & Diane — two young women who fall in love — but both dropped out before production and the cast has been replaced several times.

Thirlby publicly came out as bisexual in 2011 – she has been married to Jacques Pienaar since 2014.
