The businessman and the social network have not yet commented. The newspaper report relied on sources who would follow the negotiations closely.
The court case began in July after he announced that it would withdraw from the negotiations. Musk stated at the time that he was leaving the agreement because he was not properly informed about the volume of fake and spam accounts on the platform.
Twitter, in turn, says it followed what was planned and that the businessman was the one who didn’t comply with the negotiation. As a result, the company filed a lawsuit against Musk.
What the reports say
According to the Washington Post, Twitter shareholders are considering the proposal, but some of the company’s leaders are still skeptical, suggesting the new offering could be a legal ploy.
Bloomberg adds that Musk backed out because his legal team realized they were unlikely to win the lawsuit.
The initial pretrial decisions in favor of Twitter and the difficulty of proving that the social network had failed on the terms of the contract reportedly weighed in in this regard.
