Elon Musk personally offers the first German Tesla Model Y at Gigafactory Berlin

Tesla has officially launched the delivery of the first German Model Y vehicle. This marks an important moment in Tesla’s expansion.

CEO Elon Musk attended to hand over the first car and he gave a brief speech.

This is a big problem as these are the first Tesla cars produced in Europe and are in the backyard of Germany’s strong automobile industry.

But for Tesla, it will support Tesla’s logistics by adding capacity at its new plant and leveraging its European talent pool, as well as supplying and releasing vehicles manufactured in Europe to the European market. That is also important. Produced in the US and China for other markets.

Elon Musk visited Gigafactory Berlin to give the first few cars directly to the customer and gave a brief speech.

The CEO thanked everyone involved in making the factory a reality and reassured Tesla to “do the right thing” at the factory.

“Tesla confirms that this is a gem for the region, Germany, and the world.”

Musk reiterated the vision that electric vehicles, solar, wind and energy storage batteries could solve climate change, saying that Gigafactory Berlin is a “big step” to achieve that.

He hopes these solutions will make people more optimistic about the future.

Here’s the full speech and first delivery (thanks to David on the Tesla Welt podcast):

Tesla did not share information about the factory’s current capacity. When the first phase of the factory is fully operational, it is expected to reach 500,000 units a year, but it can take several years to reach that point.

In the 2022 guidance, automakers do not consider significant production in this year’s growth from new plants in Berlin and Texas.

The company also plans to produce battery cells from Gigafactory Berlin, especially the new 4680 cells, but the factory-produced Model Y is currently equipped with 2170 cells.
