  • Musk targeted rival billionaires Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos in a series of tweets on Friday.

  • The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX said Gates’ bet against Tesla is now worth up to $2 billion.

  • Musk said Bezos is “fine, I think,” but needs to “spend less time in the hot tub.”

Elon Musk said Bill Gates has a multibillion-dollar short on Tesla and called Jeff Bezos “fine I guess” in a series of tweets aimed at rival billionaires.

Musk’s tweets followed a survey He asked his followers to choose whether they trusted “politicians” or “billionaires” less, with 76% of the 3.4 million poll voting for “politicians.”

Musk previously challenged Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to ask her own supporters the same question, while other supporters wanted to know Musk’s opinion of other billionaires.

React Responding to conservative author Brigette Gamble’s tweet that she doesn’t trust Gates, Musk replied, “Since Gates still has a multi-billion dollar short position on Tesla while claiming to help with global warming, I have probably some trust issues with him too.”

He added in another reply that the short was “$500 million, but then Tesla went up a lot, so now it’s $1.5 billion to $2 billion to close.”

Shares of Tesla rose more than 7% on Friday to $759.63 but are still down almost 37% this year.

Musk has previously lashed out at Gates for betting against Tesla stock. He said he rejected Gates’ philanthropy, arguing that his short film shows the Microsoft founder wasn’t serious about fighting climate change.

Gates has hinted, but not directly admitted, in interviews this year that he bet against Tesla.

Musk was asked by another user if he thinks Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is “(generally) a good person.”

“He’s fine I think. Seems like he spends a lot of time in the hot tub these days,” Musk tweeted. “If he wants to go into orbit, less partying and more work would be advisable,” he was referring to the space race that took place between the two.

The story goes on

Bezos and Musk were embroiled in a 15-year feud in which the two created competing companies and reportedly feuded privately.
