Ever since billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg started showing signs they’d opted for a physical cage fight, the universe seems to have slipped into one of its most entertaining timelines. Both Musk and Zuckerberg are important leaders in their respective companies, after all, but both seem to embrace the idea of a physical game, and in a cage at that.
The ridiculous but seemingly increasingly doable fight began when Musk jokingly posted on Twitter that he was ready for a cage fight against the Facebook and Meta owner. Zuckerberg responded to Musk’s post on his own social media platform by saying, “Send me the location.”
And with that, the Billionaires Cage Match was born.
A lot has happened since then. Artificial intelligence researcher and martial arts enthusiast Lex Fridman has shared videos and photos of himself sparring with both billionaires. Fridman praised Musk for his strength, power and skill, but also shared clips of himself submitting to Zuckerberg during their jiu-jitsu sparring session.
TMZ Sports recently claimed that an Italian government official reportedly contacted the meta owner about the idea of staging the fight at the Colosseum in Rome.
The idea is certainly new, although the venue hasn’t really been used to host any major events in recent years. However, Elon Musk seems to be enjoying the course of events, noting on Twitter that “there happens to be a fight happening in the Coliseum.”
While the idea of Musk and Zuckerberg going head-to-head in a cage fight in the Coliseum is definitely a fun scenario, the office of Italy’s Culture Ministry has issued a statement, noting that there is no formal contract from the ministry, nor any written document regarding the event still exists. Therefore, reports of the billionaires’ cage fight in the Colosseum should be treated as speculation for now.
Should Musk and Zuckerberg fight, it would probably be quite entertaining. The Tesla CEO is significantly taller and heavier than the meta owner, although he’s also 12 years older. Musk’s taller height should probably give him an advantage in a fight, but Zuckerberg is quite adept at martial arts, winning jiu-jitsu tournaments and reportedly completing the “Murph Challenge” workout in under 40 minutes.
