Elon Musk: X will file “thermonuclear” lawsuit over anti-Semitism allegations – The Jerusalem Post

X Corp, formerly known as Twitter, will file a lawsuit against Media Matters and those who attacked the social media platform X, Elon Musk said in a post on the platform on Saturday, shortly after major US companies stopped advertising on the website.

“The court will open in a split second on Monday.

Liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America said earlier this week it had found that corporate advertising from IBM, Apple, Oracle and Comcast’s Xfinity was being placed next to anti-Semitic content.

IBM said Thursday that it had immediately stopped all advertising on the Musk-owned X after regulators found that its ads were placed next to content promoting Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.

Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and Comcast, Lions Gate Entertainment and Paramount Global said Friday they would also pause their ads on X. Axios reported that Apple would do the same. Musk endorsed an anti-Semitic post on X on Wednesday that falsely claimed members of the Jewish community were stoking hatred against white people.

“This week, Media Matters for America published a story highlighting the true experiences of advertising

“Media Matters created an alternate account and curated the posts and advertisements that appeared on the account’s timeline to misinform advertisers about the placement of their posts.”

Media Matters did not immediately respond to an email request seeking comment outside of business hours.

Increase in hate speech

Advertisers have abandoned the site since Musk bought it in October 2022 and reduced content moderation, which civil rights groups say has led to a sharp rise in hate speech on X.

The White House on Friday condemned Elon Musk’s endorsement of what it called a “vile” anti-Semitic conspiracy theory

“It is unacceptable to repeat the vile lie … one month after the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said, referring to the Palestinian terror group Hamas’ attack on Israel on March 7 October.
